UNFPA and Japan donate mobile clinics to local health centre

THE Ministry of Health and Social Services has received a donation of medical equipment, including a mobile clinic van, from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), funded by the Government of Japan.

The ministry revealed that the donated equipment will benefit hospitals in Zambezi, Kunene, and Ohangwena. This was done through the UNFPA and the Japanese Government’s “Leaving No One Behind” project.

“In addition, the project has procured 24,000 packs of sanitary pads to benefit young marginalized girls in schools under the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture,” the health ministry added.

UNFPA Namibia and the Government of Japan, through the “Leaving No One Behind” project, also handed over a mobile clinic van to the One Economy Foundation. The One Economy Foundation revealed that the fully equipped mobile clinic van enhances their capacity to provide SRH services and GBV prevention to vulnerable and underserved communities.

“By delivering a full range of preventive services directly to communities, the One Economy Foundation can contribute towards reducing maternal mortality and improving health outcomes, as we believe a proactive approach is better than a reactive one,” the One Economy Foundation added.
