A 34-YEAR-OLD woman’s body was allegedly found hanging from a branch hours after releasing the livestock from a kraal in Oshikoto.
The deceased was identified as Martha Nakake, a resident of Omunyakadhi village in the Nehale Lyampingana constituency.
Oshikoto Commissioner Teopolina Kalompo-Nashikaku said the discovery was made on Sunday afternoon by the deceased’s stepdaughter.
According to Kalompo-Nashikaku, the deceased allegedly left the house to release the livestock from the kraal and had also informed the children that she was not feeling well at the time of the incident.
She said that after a while, the deceased’s stepdaughter became concerned as the stepmother did not return from the kraal, and she decided to follow her stepmother’s flip-flop shoe prints.
“This led the stepdaughter to the scene, and upon discovery of the deceased’s body, she quickly ran to the neighbour where she found the deceased’s mother and narrated her findings,” she said.
She added that the deceased’s body was found hanging from a branch with a white rope around her neck in the nearby bushes.
No suicide note was found or left behind.
The deceased’s body has been transported to Omuthiya police mortuary for a post-mortem.
