AN 17-YEAR-OLD girl from Okando village in the Omusati Region is at an advanced stage of pregnancy after she was allegedly raped in January.
Omusati Crime Investigation Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho, said the incident, which occurred in January this year, was only recently reported to the police after the victim was confronted by family members.
“It is alleged that the suspect forcefully had sexual intercourse with the victim once, and as a result, the victim became pregnant,” he said.
He added that the victim is 25 weeks pregnant.
Simaho indicated that the suspect is known to the victim and has yet to be arrested.
