THE appeal board of the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs is conducting hearing sessions in the Omusati Region, where approximately 600 Namibians, whose initial applications for veteran status were rejected, are given a second chance to present additional evidence.
Each appellant is expected to bring along their original ID card and a sworn declaration from a witness stating the activities performed by the appellant during the liberation struggle. The witness must not be a relative of the appellant.
According to the published timetable, the sessions take place at the Veterans Ministry’s office in Outapi from May 20 to June 7.
With a total of 122 appellants, the Outapi constituency has the highest number of appellants, while Okahao constituency — with only five appellants — has the lowest number.
The number of appellants in the remaining ten constituencies is as follows: Anamulenge (120), Elim (22), Etayi (23), Ogongo (29), Okalongo (74), Onesi (38), Oshikuku (20), Otamanzi (16), Ruacana (114), and Tsandi (20).
