A MAN was robbed of his double cab Toyota GD6 white vehicle on the road between Swakopmund and Henties Bay.
According to Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, Crime Investigation Coordinator in the Erongo region, the incident happened on Monday, April 8, 2024, at about 20:00.
It is alleged that the victim, Melvin Araeb, an adult Namibian self-employed man, was travelling alone in his car, a white Toyota DG6 D/Cab with registration number N 20061 S, on the main road from Swakopmund towards Henties Bay on the way to Khorixas. When he reached Mile 11, he saw a Silver Polo parked in the middle of the road.
According to him, he stopped to assist, thinking that the vehicle was broken, and suddenly four male persons (suspects) armed with a firearm jumped out and took his vehicle with all his belongings, including his iPhone, and drove in the direction of Henties Bay. He allegedly walked from the scene back to Swakopmund to call his friend, who picked him up at the service station and took him to the Police Station.
The vehicle has not yet been recovered, and no arrests have been made yet.
Police investigation continues. The public has been requested to assist the victim by coming forward with information on the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle or if they know the suspects. They are urgently requested to contact Deputy Comm. Iikuyu at 0812464757 or Det. WO 1 Auchab at +264812766844, Swakopmund C.I.U, or any nearest police station.
