SEVERAL sanitary manholes in Outapi, a town in the Omusati Region, were left open when unknown thieves stole the covers recently. According to the town council, the matter was reported to the police and is under investigation.
The council has expressed concern about the theft, not only because of stolen property but also because open sanitary manholes pose a serious danger to the town’s inhabitants.
Outapi Mayor Selma Asino said that the council is busy replacing the covers and urged residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities, either at the Outapi police station or to the police’s emergency number 081 205 5857.
