A MEMBER of the Namibian police was arrested in Walvis Bay following a road accident involving a police vehicle. The suspect is accused of drunken driving as well as reckless and negligent driving. The accident occurred on Independence Road, Kuisebmund, at around 22:40 on Thursday.
It is alleged that the suspect drove a white Toyota Hilux (Pol 9195) while under the influence of alcohol. “He drove the vehicle in a reckless and negligent manner and collided with another vehicle, a Honda Fitz,” said the police. Both vehicles were damaged, and the occupants sustained minor injuries and were taken to the local hospital for treatment.
