Police ask people to speak up

Maria David

THE Namibian Police Force (NamPol) has urged people to start speaking out rather than resorting to suicide. This plea comes after a 45-year-old man committed suicide at Onashikushalabani village in the Oshana Region.

The deceased was identified as Iipinge Kalola. According to Oshana Community Affairs Officer Inspector Thomas Aiyambo, the deceased, a resident of Oniiganga village, had come to help his grandmother with cultivation at the house where he committed suicide.

Aiyambo indicated that the deceased was last seen when he went to sleep. The lifeless body was discovered in his bedroom with a rope around his neck. No foul play is suspected, and no suicide note was left behind.

Aiyambo stressed that suicide is not the solution, and people should learn to speak up.
