THE Eros Primary School was thrown into disarray and mass hysteria over the past weeks after grade learners at the school experimented with a game called ‘Charlie Charlie’ which summons demons.
Touching on the incident that happened towards the end of October, the principal of Eros Primary School, Jacobina Hamata, explained that this is a game where people use a piece of paper and two pencils in order to attempt to summon a demon and get him/her to answer their questions.
“It is on the internet, so it is available for everyone to see and experiment. Unfortunately, the game had disastrous consequences, and it created panic and havoc amongst our grade 5’s,” Hamata said.
She added that she had a meeting with the concerned parents and the matter is being dealt with by both school management and the Regional Education Office as well.
“We are making a humble plea to our dear parents and guardians to stay alert and be vigilant at all times. We are encouraging parents and guardians to consider instituting restrictive measures on their children’s phones so they can have control over whatever they indulge in on the internet,” Hamata said.
She concluded by assuring the parents that the school is committed to supporting the affected children and to that effect the school has sought professional help from experts to help the school deal with the matter.”
