FIVE men between the ages of 24 and 38 have been arrested after being found in possession of an unlicensed firearm on Wednesday.
NamPol Head of Media Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga said that they were also charged with possession of housebreaking implements and attempted robbery.
Kuwinga indicated that the five were apprehended around 11:04 at a guesthouse in Old Ongwediva in the Oshana Region.
“It is alleged that the suspects were found with an unlicensed pistol in a Silver Toyota Corolla with Ondangwa registration and a welded metal suspected to be used in housebreaking,” he said.
Kuwinga added that they recovered one silver pistol with no serial number with a black handle and a magazine of two rounds, plus one empty cartridge that was found in the chamber.
Furthermore, he indicated that two Okapi knives and one black knife were also recovered.
