THE police in Omusati are investigating a case of murder and concealment of birth after a baby girl was discovered in a waterhole.
The discovery was made on Monday in Iikokola Village, located in Omusati’s Tsandi Constituency.
Omusati Crime Investigation Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho, said that the deceased, estimated to be about a day old, was thrown into the waterhole by an unknown suspect.
“It is alleged that an unknown suspect secretly gave birth to a baby girl, wrapped the baby in a white t-shirt, and then threw the baby into the waterhole,” he said.
Simaho indicated that the lifeless body of the deceased was discovered by a passerby floating in the water.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
