IN Oshitundu village, in the Oshikuku constituency of Omusati, a four-month-old baby girl tragically suffocated to death after her mother was allegedly found lying on top of her.
The deceased has been identified as Kagetuza Magadarena Erastus.
Omusati Crime Coordinator Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho confirmed that the police are currently investigating a case of suffocation.
According to Simaho, it was reported that the baby’s mother was found lying on top of the child, and the doctor at Oshikuku Hospital pronounced the baby dead.
Sumaho said that the baby’s father had been at the cuca shop in Opoto location, Oshitundu village, and upon his return, he found his wife sleeping on top of the baby.
“He tried to wake her up, but she was unresponsive, so he removed the child and realized that the baby was not breathing,” he said.
Simaho added that the man then requested assistance from the police.
The police are still investigating the incident.
