PROMINENT businessman Theo Borstlap, the owner of SuperSpar in Otjiwarongo, has succumbed to injuries sustained in a fire explosion in May.
According to family members, Borstlap passed away at 4:42 AM this morning at Milpark Hospital in South Africa.
“We take solace in knowing that he is now with our heavenly Father. We thank each one of you for your support and love throughout this difficult time. Words fail me to express our emotions, as we all thought Theo had surpassed the critical phase,” one of the bereaved family members wrote.
In addition to his business located in the heart of Otjiwarongo, Borstlap was well-known and much loved by the community for his philanthropy and inspirational messages wherever he went.
In April 2022, Von Trotha Street was renamed to Theo Borstlap Street. The renaming of the street was in recognition of Borstlap’s outstanding achievements in the areas of cultural, educational, social, sports, or economic development of the town.
