THE town of Eenhana was buzzing with sporting activities over the weekend as various schools competed for the grand prize in different categories at the Hambili Haufiku Secondary School.
Sports organizer Jonsen Kamhulu declared the first-ever interschool tournament a success.
An amount of nearly N$25,000 was allocated for the tournament, aimed at raising funds for learners’ textbooks and chairs.
Kamhulu mentioned that all secondary schools and combined schools with grade 11 participated in the tournament.
In the Boys’ Soccer Category, Oshela Senior Secondary School was crowned the winner and walked away with N$3,000, a floating trophy, and gold medals.
Ponhofi Senior Secondary School was the runner-up and received N$2,500 and silver medals, while Hambili Haufiku Secondary School took third place and received N$1,500 and bronze medals.
In the Girls’ Soccer Category, Hambili Haufiku Secondary School was crowned the winner and received N$2,000, a floating trophy, and gold medals.
Gabriel Taapopi Secondary School secured second place and received N$1,200 and silver medals, while Eenhana Secondary School came in third place and received N$800 and bronze medals.
Moving on to the Boys’ Basketball Category, Ponhofi Senior Secondary School emerged as the winners and walked away with N$1,000, a floating trophy, and gold medals.
Hambili Haufiku Secondary School took second place and received N$600 and silver medals, while Gabriel Taapopi Secondary School claimed third place and received N$400 and bronze medals.
In the Girls’ Basketball Category, Gabriel Taapopi Secondary School clinched the victory and received N$650, a floating trophy, and gold medals.
Ponhofi Senior Secondary School secured second place and received N$400 and silver medals, while Hambili Haufiku Secondary School came in third place and received N$250 and bronze medals.
In the netball category, Gabriel Taapopi Secondary School emerged as the winners and received N$2,500, a floating trophy, and gold medals.
Mweshipandeka Secondary School secured second place and received N$1,500 and silver medals, while Oshikunde Combined School claimed third place and received N$1,000 and bronze medals.
For volleyball, Hambili Haufiku Secondary School claimed the victory and received N$1,000, a floating trophy, and gold medals.
Oshela Secondary School secured second place and received N$600 and silver medals, while St. Mary Odibo came in third place and received N$400 and bronze medals.
