A TEENAGER who allegedly killed her newly born baby and buried the body in a shallow grave was arrested by the police in the Omusati Region on Wednesday.
The nineteen-year-old suspect faces charges of murder, concealment of birth and defeating the course of justice.
The alleged crime occurred in the Omikwiyu village near Outapi at an unknown time and date early this month.
According to the police, the suspect was eight to nine months pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl. She wrapped the baby in a cloth, dug a hole in a pan near the water and buried the baby with the intent to conceal the crime and defeat the course of Justice.
The macabre act was only discovered Tuesday when a passerby saw a dog carrying “something suspicious” that turned out to be the baby’s body.
The law enforcement officers were promptly alerted and the suspect was found and arrested.
She is expected to appear in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
