NAMIBIAN cyclist Vera Looser won the women’s 2023 Absa Cape Epic – a legendary victory that makes her the first Namibian woman to win the gruelling mountain biking race.
Looser was crowned the winner on Sunday alongside her teammate, Kimberley Le Court from Mauritius. Looser is an experienced cyclist who previously participated in the National Cycling Championships as well as the Commonwealth Games, among other cycling races.
The 2023 Absa Cape Epic, which started on 19 March, saw amateur and professional cyclists embark on an eight-day mountain biking race in South Africa. Absa Cape Epic said that the 658-kilometre (km) race aimed to push cyclists almost to their breaking points, rewarding those determined enough to overcome the race’s demands.
