LACK of proper training or blatant recklessness landed a security guard in hospital with a self-inflicted bullet wound.
That was 18:00 on Wednesday when a 23-year-old guard started his night shift at the Quiver Villas in the Ongwediva town.
He found the service shotgun where it was left by a colleague who had just knocked off.
“He picked up the firearm without doing inspection and when he hit the butt on the ground, a bullet went off, hitting him on the left shoulder,” said the police.
He was immediately taken to the Oshakati hospital where he was admitted in a stable condition.
