Stepson murder accused denied bail

Samuel Shinedima

RIKKI Narib (29), who stands accused of murdering his five-year-old stepson Wilfred Eiseb, was denied bail when he appeared in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s court Monday morning.

He faces charges of murder and defeating/obstructing or attempting to defeat the course of justice.

The 29-year-old allegedly murdered Eiseb on Friday and disposed of his remains in the dunes near the ‘Welcome to Walvis Bay’ Sign. Eiseb’s half buried remains were discovered by a passerby who alerted the police.

Meanwhile, it was also established that the suspect sent a message to the deceased’s mother, compelling her to go and collect her child’s body from the dunes.

According to the police’s initial crime report released on the day of the murder incident, the 29-year-old was married to the mother of the deceased child but they were not living together at the time of the murder.

The authorities further said that the accused ostensibly took the child from a tuck-shop in Tutaleni and went to kill him in the dunes.

In a brief appearance, the murder accused pleaded not guilty and he is remanded in custody to allow further investigations in the matter.
He will be brought back to court on March 22 for the continuation of his pre-trial.

He testified before court that he will be conducting his own defense.
