THE Tsumeb Municipality have urged residents to continue boiling water before consumption.
Town spokesperson Stella Imalwa-Nangolo said the inhabitants are encouraged to ensure that they boil their water until test results on the quality of water are available.
“We are busy conducting our own tests on the quality of the town’s water,” she said.
This urge comes after Dundee Precious Metals issued a warning that the town’s water is unfair for human consumption.
Tsumeb water is supplied from one of the town’s reservoirs, this is originally sourced from the municipal boreholes.
Earlier this month, a test was carried out by Dundee Precious Metals on the quality of the drinking water onsite, where high microbiological traces were found.
This situation has also resulted in many inhabitants having to spend their little savings to buy mineral water every day.
The residents now requested the town’s leadership to speed up the testing process in order for them to go back to normal.
