Ongwe Master and Young Rangers win Omatando tourney

THE Young Rangers Netball Club and the Ongwe Master Football Club were on Monday crowned champions of the Omatando Annual Social Tournament.

The Ongwe Master FC defeating the Ondjondjo Legends 2-0, scooping N$2 500 in prize money, while the losing side walked away with N$1 500 as second place reward.

Meanwhile, the Young Rangers netball team defeated the Afrocat team and was crowned the SaraSem Christmas Netball Cup champion.

 

 

Beside the money, the winning teams in both soccer and netball also walked away with floating trophies and gold medals, while the runner-up took home N$1 000 and silver medals.
Cobra Kai came third and received N$700 and bronze medals for the players.

Tournament organiser Lukas Itengula, also known as ‘Chemmy’, said that the Omatando annual social event, started with soccer only in 2017.

There was no event in 2020 due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Itengula pointed out that the proceeds of the tournament were used to donate soccer and netball balls and stationery to the Joseph Mbangula Primary School.

He added that their aim is to increase the number of participants from four to eight next year.
