INHABITANTS of the Oshikoto Region all flocked to the town of Omuthiya for the Commemoration of World Tourism Day on Tuesday.
The day kicked off with a street parade from the town’s open market to the sport field holding banners and placards with messages of promoting tourism in the country.
World Tourism Day is commemorated each year to create awareness on the significance of tourism to Namibia’s social and economic development.
This year the day is being held under the theme: “Promoting heritage or cultural experiences to harness sustainable tourism.”
Deputy Minister of Environment, Heather Sibungo will officially open the day.
Omukwaniilwa Tatekulu Fillemon Shuumbwa Nangolo of the Ondonga Traditional Authority is amongst the delegation who will attend the celebration.
