A CASE of fraud, forgery and uttering is being investigated after four men were arrested for buying goods with forged documents in Ondangwa on Wednesday.
The four suspects, aged 34, 29, 39 and 42, have been arrested at the Olunkono Complex after the case was reported by the manager of C.I.C (Pty) Ltd.
According to Community Affairs Officer Inspector Thomas Aiyambo, the alleged syndicate of fraudsters were arrested during a sting operation.
“The suspects were allegedly trying to buy alcohol from C.I.C (Pty) Ltd with alleged fake proof of payment, which was forged and uttered to look as if it was processed by First National Bank Namibia,” he said.
He added that they took 24 bottles of Jägermeister (750ml) and 48 bottles of Jack Daniel’s (750ml), worth N$22 808,09.
Aiyambo stated that suspects will be formally charged today and will be expected to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate Court on Friday.
Police investigation into the matter continues.
