A 26-YEAR-OLD Namibian man has been arrested and charged with murder after he killed his employer, identified as Christof Mberitjiwa Mungunda (66).
According to the weekend crime bulletin the incident happened on Friday, 16 September 2022, at about 22:00 at Mberitjiua Post, Otjombinde Constituency, Omaheke region.
The suspect allegedly attacked the victim, hit him several times with a wooden axe handle on the head until he fell to the ground, unconscious. The suspect then went to the deceased’s yard, took the victim’s car and loaded alcohol and food. It is further alleged that the suspect was informed by his girlfriend that the deceased was still moving and breathing heavily. The suspect then went back and intentionally dropped a big stone on the victim’s head, which caused his death.
The suspect tried to run over the co-workers with the stolen vehicle, but the co-workers managed to escape and went to inform people at the nearby villages after they saw their employer in a pool of blood. The suspect drove off with the stolen vehicle until he reached Gobabis, where he was apprehended.
The body of the deceased was transported to Gobabis State Hospital mortuary for autopsy arrangements and the next of kin were informed.
Police investigation continues.
