Germany assists with provision of accessible emergency medical care

Staff Reporter

THE German Embassy officially handed medical equipment over to the Emergency Medical Assistance organisation (EMA), which is a non-profit organisation that aims to make emergency medical care accessible to all.

The equipment, which is intended to assist with the provision of better medical care at the Katutura Intermediate Hospital, was handed over by the Chargé d’ Affaires of the German Embassy, Dr Andreas Götze, and the Executive Director (ED)of the Ministry of Health, Ben Nangombe.

The handover is aimed to assist with managing the influx of patients to medical emergency units, while supporting the treatment of urgent emergencies and casualties at the Katutura Intermediate Hospital.

“We trust that the disadvantaged communities that depend on free medical services at the state hospital will now be able to receive attention and treatment faster than before,” the German Embassy shared in a recently released statement.

The hand over comes after the EMA received a grant of N$1 700 000 through the embassy’s micro project fund last year. Those funds were for the procurement of five mobile medical emergency units and other additional medical equipment to support the Katutura Intermediate Hospital.

“Because of its close and distinguished working relationship with the Ministry of Health and Social Services and its work on the ground, EMA is an excellent partner to serve the community with medical assistance,” the embassy added.
