German family and SA pilot identified as victims of Impalila plane crash

THE Namibian police have revealed four members of a German family visiting Namibia and a young South African pilot as the victims the Impalila island plane crash.

They were identified as follows: Nicole Mienie a South African female (pilot), Thomas Rings, aged 59, a male from Germany, Dr Evelyn Rings, a 57-year-old woman, & Alicia Maria Rings also a female from Germany(age not known). The fourth victim was identified as 17-year-old Paulina Lucia Rings, a female from Germany.

 

Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga stated that their bodies have been taken to the Katima Mulilo State Hospital mortuary.

Kuwinga noted that the plane involved in the crash was a Chartered plane V5-LMK that belongs to the Scenic Air Company.

He added that the plane crashed a few minutes after taking off from Impalila airport along the Zambezi River bank.
