TWO men aged 25 and 17 are receiving medical attention after they were wounded in a shooting incident at the Okasisiti cucashops in the Osholuyu village in the Eheke area near Ondangwa.

A case of attempted murder is being investigated by the police in the Oshana region following the shooting incident that occurred on Monday at around 12:30.

The Police’s community affairs officer in the region, Inspector Thomas Aiyambo, said that a suspect arrived at the shebeens and parked his Toyota pick up under a tree, took out his shotgun and aimed at the victims before pulling the trigger.

The victims were within a range of 18 metres.
According to Aiyambo, the shell did struck the first victim on the neck and the right arm. The second victim sustained bullet wounds on the head and the back.

He said that both victims were admitted in the Onandjokwe district hospital.

It is still unclear why the suspect resorted to violence against these specific victims.

“Community members are suspecting abuse of alcohol as the suspect is said to have fired several shots in the air the previous night, what earned him a stern warning from the village headman,” said Aiyambo.

The 58-year-old suspect has been arrested and the shotgun is recovered and booked in the Pol 7 at the police station.
