Nekongo sworn in as Member of Parliament

EPHRAIM Nekongo, former SWAPO Youth League secretary, was today sworn in as a Member of Parliament filling the vacancy left in the National Assembly following the resignation of former public enterprises minister Leon Jooste.

Chief Justice Peter Shivute administered the swearing in of Nekongo and stated that a vacancy has occurred in the National Assembly on the Presidential appointment list. In terms of Article 32 (5)(c) of the Namibian Constitution, President Hage Geingob has appointed Ephraim Nekongo as a Member of the National Assembly.

“I now declare Ephraim Nekongo as a duly member of the National Assembly,” Justice Shivute read at the short ceremony held at Parliament today.
