A WEEKEND full of fun in Tsumeb will be remembered for long after Head of State President Hage Geingob made a surprise visit to one of the local entertainment areas that were fully packed with an exciting music line-up.
President Geingob joined the many people entertained on Saturday during a show hosted by Rosy’s Bar for Wanaka’s Birthday Bash.
Presidential press secretary Alfredo Hengari said the President has a farm some 40 kilometres from the town and that Tsumeb is home to him.
He said the President has a heart for the youth and is always willing to engage them, be it when he is in the capital or elsewhere in the country.
“He always invites them to State House to engage the youth,” he added.
The President’s surprise visit delighted all in attendance.
Artists such as Bonsella, Gallo-7, D-Kandjafa, Proof Naana, Fillyzo Namwater, Warforce, Kulla-Fresh, Loco Sounds and Wandunde entertained the people. Dj Sackman was on the mix for the whole night.
Owner of Rosy’s Bar Petrus Wanakashimba said hosting the birthday bash was part of keeping the town alive in terms of entertainment that was not possible due to the prolonged coronavirus.
“The music industry is one of the worst affected in the country, and we just want to have the youth entertained once in a while,” he said.
He said there is a need to invest in local musicians to keep them afloat, as the little contribution to the musicians makes a huge difference in their music journey.
