FOLLOWING the State of the Nation Address this week, President Hage Geingob sent a message of appreciation to the Namibian nation:
Fellow Namibians,
The State of the Nation Address on 6 April 2022, my 8th since I assumed office as President of the Republic of Namibia on 21 March 2015, reaffirmed my faith in the ability of the Namibian people to unite and to rally behind our shared objective of a stronger, just and united Namibia.
I can say that I am a proud Namibian.

Without doubt, the past two years have been exceptionally difficult for us as a nation with the Covid-19 pandemic creating a lot of uncertainties and placing indefinable stress on our governance and socio-economic architectures.
Collectively, our differences notwithstanding, we have been able to surmount these daunting challenges in order to once again reimage ourselves and to reset our country on a trajectory of progress and development.
In light of what we achieved during the SONA 2022 week, I would like to thank the Speaker of the National Assembly Honourable Professor Peter Hitjitevi Katjavivi and the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Loide Kasingo, including the Chairperson of the National Council, Honourable Lucas Sinimbo Muha for the admirable manner in which they officiated over the proceedings of the day.
Furthermore, I would like to thank the Members of Parliament of the Ruling Party, SWAPO for their usual cooperation, resilience and robust support of the policies and activities of the Executive.
Also, I wish to thank the members of Parliament from all the Opposition Parties for their inputs and orderly behaviour during my State of the Nation Address.
The conduct of ordinary Namibians from all walks of life, young and old, in the discussions around the State of the Nation Address Week have been exemplary and in keeping with our enduring rallying cry of One Namibia, One Nation.
You have all made it possible for me to deliver a State of the Nation Address on 6 April 2022 to Parliament, which I am convinced spoke to the scale of our challenges and our ambitions as a nation.
Indeed, as we march forward as a stronger, just and united country, the foundations of the Namibian House have been firmly anchored.
I thank you
Hage G. Geingob
