THE Namibian police in Oshana have warned the public to be alert after unknown suspects broke into Emvula Arms and Ammunition in Ongwediva and stole 13 pistols.
Community Affairs Officer Warrant Officer Frieda Shikole said the break-in occurred between Tuesday around 17:30 and Wednesday around 08:00.
Shikole said the suspects also got away with one Apple laptop, a jacket, ammunition and a cash amount yet to be determined.
“It is alleged that the suspects used an unknown object to cut the roof of the building to gain entry and then used a cutting torch to open the strongroom door,” she said.
She said if the firearms land in the wrong hands they will pose a great risk to the nation.
The suspects are unknown at this stage and no recoveries have been made.
Shikole urged the public to report any information to the nearest police station.
