A 30-YEAR-OLD man died on the scene after crashing into the trailer of a truck nearby Onamulunga village on Friday.
Oshikoto Regional Commander Commissioner Armas Shivute identified the deceased as Abraham Fessy Nameho, an unlicensed driver.
His passenger, Shilongo Kamati (26), sustained multiple serious injuries and was admitted to the Onandjokwe hospital in stable condition.
The accident happened around 20:10 on the B1 road between Onethindi and Onathinge in the Onayena area.
“It is alleged that the driver of a truck with Ondangwa registration was driving east, while the unlicensed driver of a Volkswagen Caddy pickup with Windhoek registration was travelling from Onethindi towards Onathinge when the accident happened,” Shivute said.
He said the truck driver was getting onto the road when the driver of the pickup crashed into the trailer of the truck from behind.
“The driver of the pickup was declared dead at the scene by a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) paramedic, while his passenger sustained several degrees of injuries,” he said.
The truck driver, Wilbald Sigobi (31), who was travelling alone, escaped unharmed.
The Oshikoto police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
