FIVE-YEAR-OLD Hambeleleni Shitenga died tragically after the room she was sleeping in caught fire at Okwalondo on Friday.
According to Nampol’s weekend crime bulletin, the deceased’s mother left her at home with her siblings aged 1, 12 and 15.
“The elder siblings allegedly left the deceased and the one-year-old sibling alone in the house and went to play at an oshana,” said police.
While at the oshana, they saw the house was on fire. They ran to the house where they found the one-year-old child standing at the entrance of the burning room.
“The room burnt to ashes. The body of the deceased was transported to Engela,” the police said.
It is still unclear what caused the fire.
