THREE-YEAR-OLD Kornelia Ndeutapo died after she was struck by lightning at Okapyakeedibo village in the Eengodi area.
The incident occurred on Sunday around 15:00.
Oshikoto police commander Armas Shivute said while the girl was showering outside it started raining. She ran from the shower but was struck by lightning before reaching a room inside her home.
Shivute said she was rushed to the Onamishu Clinic by her mother and was there referred to the Omuthiya hospital. She was, however, not admitted and they returned home.
It is not at this stage known why the girl was not admitted to the hospital.
“Her mother took her back to the Omuthiya hospital on Monday but she died on the way there,” he said.
The deceased’s body was transported to the Omuthiya police mortuary for post mortem examination.
