RESIDENTS in the North have to stock up on water for at least two weeks as rations have been implemented due to technical issues at the Calueque scheme.
Pumps have been off for two days, resulting in a drop in water flow in the canal towards the Oshakati treatment plant.
In a statement issued by NamWater, water supply will be interrupted daily for the next two weeks from 22:00 to 05:00 and from 11:00 to 15:00.

“The purpose of the interruption is to build up reserve capacity and sustain the limited available water that is being produced,” NamWater stated.
Ongwediva and Ondangwa town leadership urged residents to store water during the period.
Ongwediva town spokesperson Jackson Muma said residents should use stored water sparingly until supply has returned to normal.
In 2021, water flow was interrupted in some northern areas due to ageing infrastructure and constant power outages.
