MORE than 86% of new cases, 92% of hospitalized cases and 97% of ICU cases are not vaccinated.
“We announce 121 confirmed cases from 1 282 results in the last 24- hour reporting cycle, which represents a 9.4% positivity ratio. Of the total confirmed cases, 105 are not vaccinated, accounting for 86.8%,” Health Minister Dr Kalumbi Shangula said in his daily Covid-19 status update report.
The number of active Covid-19 cases is 10 114, while 332 cases are hospitalized across all regions.
Four of the hospitalized cases have received one dose of the vaccine, 21 are fully vaccinated, while 307 are not vaccinated, constituting 92.5% of all hospitalized cases.
Thirty-seven cases are in ICUs, of which one case is fully vaccinated and 36 cases are not, representing 97.3%.
“We are reporting seven deaths from four districts,” the Minister said.
“Five deaths occurred between 07 to 13 January and two deaths occurred on 14 January. Two deceased cases from Katima Mulilo district, one from Khorixas district and one from Outapi district died at home.”
Only one of the deceased cases was fully vaccinated.
Out of the total newly confirmed cases, 117 are new cases and four cases are re-infections.
The ages range from three months to 112 years.
The Otjozondjupa region recorded the most cases, namely 18, of which one is a re-infection, constituting 14.9% of the total cases, followed by Omusati and ||Kharas with 14 cases each and no re-infections.
Among the confirmed cases are 16 learners, four teachers, one student and three healthcare workers.
Thirteen cases are fully vaccinated and three of the vaccinated cases did not specify the number of doses received.
There were 255 recoveries in ten regions.
By 14 January 2022, a total of 410 544 people aged 18 years and older have received one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, representing 27.9% of the target population (1 471 973).
A total of 108 684 have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, while 241 638 adults have received two doses of other vaccine types. Therefore, 350 322 adults have completed their vaccination, translating to 23.8% of the target population.
A total number of 2 779 children aged 12 to 17 years have received one dose of the Pfizer vaccine, representing 0.9% of the target population (307 298). Of these, 541 are fully vaccinated.
The cumulative number of people vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine for both adults and children is 413 323, of which 350 863 are fully vaccinated, translating to 19.7% of the total target population (1 779 271), while 10 284 people have received a booster dose.
