THE Ondonga Traditional community and the entire Oshikoto Region have lost two of their most emblematic traditional leaders in a space of less than two weeks.

Senior traditional councillor and chairperson of the Ondonga Traditional Authority (OTA), Vilho Kamanya, passed away on December 31 and was laid to rest last week. He was 79.

The death of Kamanya, a former governor of Oshikoto, was followed 11 days later by the passing of senior traditional councillor Kashona Malulu, the head of the Ombulu traditional district and spokesperson of the OTA.

He died in the Ongwediva Medipark Hospital at the age of 69.

OTA secretary Frans Enkali, who made the death announcement on behalf of King Fillemon Shuumbwa Nangolo, expressed heartfelt condolences to the widow, Monika, the children and the entire bereaved Ombulu community.

He said that Malulu, a former PLAN combatant, earned the community’s respect for being a dedicated cadre and a straight talker.
