KONIS Sindanoolye Shaanika miraculously sustained no physical injuries after he had to be cut out of the vehicle he was stuck in on Tuesday morning following a road crash between Oshivelo and Omuthiya.

The 28-year-old Shaanika, driving an Iveco minibus, allegedly crashed into a stationary truck stranded 20 km from Omuthiya. His three passengers also sustained no injuries.

According to Nampol Head of Media, Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga, the incident occurred around 05:00.

He said an Iveco and then a Toyota Corolla crashed into the truck near the Omutsewonime village.

Kuwinga stated the truck driver, Petrus Shailemo, was coming from Oshivelo towards Omuthiya when he was stopped by a motorist informing him that the spare wheel fell off. He wanted to make a U-turn to get the wheel but the truck got stuck and part of the trailer remained on the road.
“The trailer has been there blocking the road the whole night,” Kuwinga said.

He indicated that at some point the Toyota Corolla with Ondangwa registration also crashed into the truck and the unknown driver was injured.

“He was not able to talk, but it was later confirmed through the E-Natis system that the vehicle belongs to Immanuel Immanuel,” he added.
Kuwinga stated that Immanuel and his passenger, Elago Amutenya (36), sustained moderate injuries and were taken to the Omuthiya hospital.

He noted that a case of reckless and negligent driving was opened.
Police investigation into the matter continues.
