THREE people were injured after the vehicle in which they were travelling overturned on the Otavi-Tsumeb main road on Monday.

The incident occurred around 17:30 about 10 km from Tsumeb, after the driver of a white Toyota Quantum minibus with Walvis Bay registration lost control of the vehicle.

According to Oshikoto regional commander Commissioner Armas Shivute, the vehicle was travelling from Walvis Bay to the North.

“At the Tsumeb Hill the road was slippery due to diesel that had spilled on the road causing the driver to lose control over the vehicle. The vehicle went off the road and overturned, causing injuries to passengers,” he said.

He noted that the driver, 31-year-old Kandonga Vitalis, sustained no injuries while his passengers, Paula Ndishita (41), Ruben Shikongo (43) and Simon Nghiteeka (53), were injured.

They were admitted to the Tsumeb State Hospital and are in stable condition.

Shivute said a case of reckless and negligent driving was opened, and police investigation into the matter continues.
