A MAN accused of murdering 30-year-old teacher Tomas Mega-Mega Nambahu following a fight at Omuthiya made his first appearance in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court this week.
Nambahu was a teacher at the Olupale Combined School in the Omuthiya Circuit.
The accused, Matheus Mbangula (31), remains in custody after the matter was postponed to 30 May 2022 for further police investigations.
According to Commissioner Armas Shivute, Oshikoto regional commander, a fight broke out at a bar on Saturday evening, and the two had to be separated.
Shivute said Nambahu, however, did not let the matter rest.
“After some time, the deceased went to his car and came back with an okapi knife. He started chasing the suspect. While running, the suspect picked up a brick. He threw it at the victim, hitting him on the forehead.”
“The victim fell down and was rushed to the Omuthiya State Hospital. That same night, he was transferred to the Oshakati State Hospital in a serious but stable condition,” Shivute said.
He said a case was opened with the police on Sunday but Nambahu succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
The suspect is a domestic worker of the bar owner.
