PRESIDENT Hage Geingob today chaired the last session of Cabinet 2021, in which he reiterated the importance of vaccination in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
While thanking all Namibians who individually took part in mitigating both the social and economic impacts by getting vaccinated, the Head of State expressed his concerns about those who are not vaccinated.
He said those who are blatantly refusing to get vaccinated are undermining the efforts of Government in defeating the deadly virus.
“If we are truly committed to defeating this enemy and returning towards focusing our efforts on nation building and economic development, then we must all be willing to make the sacrifices necessary to ensure victory. Government, through the Cabinet, has provided the means for recovery, so let us meet each other halfway,” the President stated.

President Geingob further said that those among us who are not vaccinated are reversing the gains the country has made in the fight against Covid-19.
He explained that the wearing of masks, practicing social distancing and sanitizing remain crucial in the fight against the coronavirus.
Geingob made reference to his clarion call made at the 37th Covid-19 briefing, recently held at the country’s highest office, in which he re-emphasized the salience of individual responsibility as a consequential tool in the fight against the pandemic.
During that particular family meeting, the President furnished the nation with what is perceived as a “final written warning”, while simultaneously reminding the nation that the usual and traditional norm of the festive season celebrations would be dictated by individual behavioural attitudes towards the fight against the virus.
“We shall not defeat this deadly virus if we don’t take individual responsibility in this fight, but in favour of the common good. Covid-19 is transmitted by humans beings and the pandemic is killing largely those who are unvaccinated, Geingob concluded.
President Geingob is set to host the 38th and highly anticipated Covid-19 public briefing on 15 December 2021.
