NEW Covid-19 cases have more than doubled in the last reporting cycle compared to the previous day.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services announced 15 cases were reported in the Tuesday to Wednesday cycle, compared to the six cases of the previous 24-hour cycle.
Minister of Health Dr Kalumbi Shangula said the new cases were reported from 1 480 test samples, which represents a 1% positivity ratio.
“We recorded two Covid-19 related deaths, both from the Rundu district. None of the deceased cases were vaccinated,” he said.
The country recorded four new recoveries, three from Erongo and one from the ||Kharas region.
Active cases stand at 85 to date.
Of these, eight are hospitalised, of which one is in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). None of these cases have been vaccinated.
Shangula said among the confirmed cases two received one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and four cases are fully vaccinated.
To date, a total of 358 599 people have received one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, of which 74 194 have received Johnson & Johnson administered as one dose, while 224 309 had received two doses.
A total of 298 503 have completed the vaccination.
