A FLEEING suspect was arrested by the Namibian police Tuesday afternoon following a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred in the Omahenene location of the Oshakati town.
According to Inspector Thomas Aiyambo, a Toyota Land cruiser hit a shack, killing a child and injuring other occupants.
It is alleged that the driver failed to stop at the scene, but was apprehended moments later while driving on the Oshakati-Okahao main road.
Aiyambo said that details about the accident, the deceased, those injured and the driver were not yet available as investigators were still at the scene.
He said that the suspect is deaf and officers were struggling to communicate with him.
“We are in the process of getting a sign language interpreter,” he said.
