Good rains recorded in Otjombinde last month

DURING the month of October, the Otjombinde constituency in the Omaheke Region received the highest rainfall in the country.

Eiseb, a village in the Omaheke Region, recording 189 mm during October, which is approximately 11 times more than the monthly average.

A statement from the Namibia Metrological Services indicates that the eastern parts of Keetmanshoop rural constituency also received significant amounts of rainfall, with Koes recording 65 mm in October and Aroab recoding 55.6 mm.

Farmers in the south of Namibia rely on this rain, which may occur as far north as Keetmanshoop.

These showers vary tremendously from a few drops to about 5 mm, but up to 20mm has been recorded.

The northern part of the Otjozondjupa received equally significant rainfall during October, ranging from 15 mm to 45 mm, which is above the monthly average.

The western regions and the Zambezi Region received little to no rain during the period under review.
