THERE is a good chance of rain across Namibia over the weekend, as more towns continue to receive rainfall and hailstorm.
October is the start of the rainy season and some parts of the country have already received heavy showers.
Windhoek, however, only started receiving showers measuring 3mm late Wednesday.
On Thursday, Windhoek again experienced heavy rainfall and flooding, making it difficult for the traffic to move, with some residents of especially informal settlements reporting house damages due to heavy showers.
Namibia Meteorological Services weather forecaster, Odilo Kgobetsi, said Windhoek is expected to receive more rainfall during the evening after the capital city received some droplets accompanied by hail.
Kgobetsi said that Windhoek recorded 12mm of rainfall today, however, the southeast recorded even more rainfall.
“Rain will continue northeast, east, central and the southeastern part of the country. A flash flood is expected in the Karas Region this evening and Friday morning again,” Kgobetsi said.
According to Kgobetsi, about 44mm was recorded at Otavi yesterday, while Kombat recorded 6mm, and Grootfontien 12mm.
More rainfall is expected in the Karas Region and northeast and southern parts of Namibia today.
