SILVA Natangwe Gabriel, the 28-year-old man accused of impersonating a local musician to gain access to a teenager that he reportedly went on to rape at Oshakati, is facing additional charges after the musician, David Shikalepo, better well-known as Exit, opened a case of criminal defamation of character.
The additional case was registered at the Oshakati police station days after Gabriel appeared at the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court and was remanded in custody until he appears again on 6 December.
It is alleged that Gabriel impersonated Exit on Facebook to gain the trust of his 19-year-old victim.
He is accused of raping the teenager after the two met for the first time on 10 October after chatting for a month.
The victim travelled to Oshakati in the hopes of meeting Exit, but was instead picked up by the accused who claimed that he was sent by the popular musician.
He took her to a house near the Elcin parish where he allegedly revealed his true colours and intentions before raping her.
He then stole her mobile phone.
Gabriel was arrested soon thereafter.
