A 20-year-old orphaned woman on Friday lodged a case of rape against her guardian for reportedly sexually violating her over a four-year period after taking over custodianship.
The young woman, who opened the case at the Ongwediva police station, claims that from 2015 to 2019 at the Ohadiwa village, her guardian would repeatedly come to her sleeping room to have non-consensual sex with her.
She told the police that the guardian would then threaten to shoot her and then shoot himself if she dared to tell anyone about what he has been doing to her.
What finally let the cat out of the bag was when the perpetrator, who became the woman’s guardian after both her parents died, kicked her out of the house.
The suspect is known to the police, but was had still not been arrested at the time of publishing this.
