THE worrying trend of elderly people being attacked and murderers in their homes at coastal towns continues unabated as an 80-year-old man was found murdered at his home in Swakopmund over the weekend after unknown suspect robbed him.
According to the weekend police crime bulletin, the incident happened between Thursday, 14 October at 09:00 and Friday, 15 October, at First Avenue, Vineta.
It is reported that the elderly Namibia man, Axel Lupfer, was found dead in his bedroom on Friday at about 18:00 by his two friends who came to his residence after they were unable to reach him on his mobile phone.
The deceased’s body was found on the floor next to his bed with his hands and feet tied with shoelaces and his mouth stuffed with a piece of clothing.
During pre-liminary investigations, police observed two footprints that entered the yard and a window that was broken.
It is suspected that the robbers turned murderer gained entry Lupfer’s home through the window.
A small wall mounted safe, as well as a Samsung flat screen and camera, are missing from the house.
Police also discovered through family and friends that the deceased’s red Chevrolet Spark Hatchback with the registration number N 3785 S, that was in the garage has also been stolen.
The car has since been found abandoned in the informal DRC location.

In another case of murder, a 26-year-old man living with a disability who has been identified as Rudolf Duplesis died after he was attacked with his two cousins on Friday at around 21:00 at the riverbed of Auas primary school.
It is reported that the trio was attacked by two suspects who demanded alcohol from them.
The two cousins managed to run away, however, the victim, who is an amputee with only a right leg, could not manage to flee for safety.
He was rushed to the Katutura state hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
A 22-year-old man has in the meantime been arrested in connection with the murder.
The Otjomuise police also registered a murder case on Saturday at about 02:57 after a young man reported that he had discovered the lifeless body of an unknown man at a parking lot near the police station
The victim was reportedly stabbed in the neck with an unknown object.
The police immediately called an ambulance, but paramedics declared the unknown man dead upon arrival.
No arrests have yet been made.
