A 63-year-old former member of the Namibia Defence Force (NDF), was today arrested after he inflicted stab wounds on his young lover following an argument.
The pensioner, who is expected to appear in court this week, allegedly stabbed the 24-year-old victim, Frieda Hilooloka, on Tuesday evening at the Epaya location in the Oshikuku town, Omusati Region.
The suspect was only apprehended today as police claim he disappeared after the incident in an attempt to evade arrest.
It is further alleged that the two lovers were socialising at a local cucashop when an argument between them ensued.
The suspect reportedly stabbed the victim with a knife twice in the back, once in the stomach and cut her on a left finger.
Hilooloka was initially taken to the Oshikuku hospital, but due to the seriousness of her injuries, was later transferred to Oshakati intermediate hospital.
Her condition is described as very serious and if she does not pull through, the attempted murder charge will be changed to murder.
