A PEDESTRIAN, the 55-year-old Leena Ndipwashimwe, was instantly killed when a car hit her while she was crossing the road near Outapi on Saturday evening.
Omusati Regional Commander, Commissioner Titus Shikongo, said that the suspect, a 39-year-old man from Onhimbu, was driving a white Toyota VVTI from Outapi to the Okalonda location when he hit the woman.
“While driving at Okakwa location, he bumped a pedestrian who was crossing the road. As a result, the pedestrian died at the scene,” he said.
Shikongo added that the suspect has a valid driver’s licence, but that he was taken to hospital for blood specimen to test his alcohol content.
Ndipwashimwe’s body has been transported to the Outapi hospital mortuary, but it will be eventually be taken further to the Okahao Police mortuary for post mortem.
