PASHAALELE Mweulinale, a 101-year-old resident of the Omakango Village in the Endola Constituency of the Ohangwena Region, died while he was being attacked with an axe by a neighbour on Monday.
NamPol’s Inspector Kaume Itumba confirmed the horrific attack and said that is alleged that the 30-year-old murder suspect, who resides in a neighbouring house, came to Mweulinale’s residence at around 11:00, picked up an axe and started demolishing a shack before turning his fury onto the old man, who was conversing with an elderly woman.
The woman sensed the danger and fled the homestead.
According to Itumba, the attacker hacked off the old man’s left leg before he started hacking away at the victim’s face and head.
The victim died while the attacker was still hacking at his body with the axe.
The attacker was arrested and charged with murder. He is set to appear on the murder charge in the Oshakati Magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
